Wormery Worm Bin Location:
Locate your worm bins for easy access.
Wormeries can be kept indoors all year round and outside during the milder months. Indoors a basement/garage, utility room, kitchen or any spare space may be utilised as long as the temperatures remain between 10°- 25°C.
Outdoors, bins can be kept in sheds and garages, on verandahs, patios, porches, balconies or in the backyard.
A sheltered spot that gets some sun is ideal, but be careful as a bin in full sun may get too hot, especially in the summer. When outside temperatures drop below 10°C, bins should either be moved inside or kept well insulated if left outdoors.
Wrapping polythene bubble pack (packaging material), carpet or something similar around the bin for insulation, will help prevent the worms from freezing during winter.
